Gianna Knibbs, CYT,
Yoga Instructor
Integrative Yoga Therapy (905) 902-0226
livewellwithgianna@gmail.com
After 5 years of developing her own personal practice, and after traveling and working in rural areas in South Africa and Mozambique, Gianna decided to complete her 200-hour intensive yoga teacher training in Integrative Yoga Therapy to become a Certified Yoga Teacher. Her personal and professional experiences with yoga gave her a sense of open-heartedness, and a desire to find a way to support others in opening their hearts, even when the stressors of daily life block our heart’s energy. Gianna stays true to her values of compassion and community in her teaching, her professional career as an Occupational Therapist working in mental health, and in her personal practice. She is involved in facilitating the learning of yoga for homeless youth in our community. She is gracious for opportunities that help to open the hearts of individuals through integrative yoga practice. First-hand she recognizes how integrating the benefits of physical asana (posture), pranayama (breath-work), relaxation, and meditation into a yoga practice, can literally help to prevent, alleviate, and even reverse the symptoms illness and mitigate stress. Gianna’s students strengthen her teaching. She will tell you that there is nothing better than seeing a student come onto their mat carrying the weight of their daily stressors, do yoga, and leave the mat looking and feeling lighter and brighter.
Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT) is based in the vision of the Yoga Teacher using an individualized approach, with the understanding that the needs of students are unique.
IYT allows for specific focus groups, including medical, educational, recovery, sports specific, and general use.
IYT teaches the nature of health and illness from the Yoga perspective.
Training assists in stress management and understanding how stress effects health and illness.
Students of these IY sessions with Gianna will experience benefits related to breath work (pranayama), meditation, relaxation (yoga nidra), and physical practise.
This is a marvelous way to stretch out stress while gaining all the physical benefits the practise has to offer!
So whether you are looking to unwind after a long week, or prepare for a weekend of productivity and fun, join Gianna for this series and experience first hand the healing and health of INTEGRATIVE YOGA THERAPY.
